We provide programs and services led by competent personnel in compliance with The Association for Experiential Education accreditation standards. The Outdoor Center seeks to enhance the mission of the state's public liberal arts university through safe*, environmentally sound, and effective programs and services.
Accreditation
Outdoor education academic programs and the Outdoor Center are accredited by The Association for Experiential Education (AEE). Outdoor education programs at Georgia College & State University were first accredited in 1997 and received the AEE Organization of the Year Award in 2006 for program excellence, contribution to the field, and ethical practice. "The AEE Accreditation Program is the nation's first accreditation process focusing on adventure based programs. A rapid increase in adventure based programs in the late 1980's produced the need for standards of program quality, professional behavior, and appropriate risk management. In 1994, AEE responded to this need by developing comprehensive standards for common practices in the industry. AEE accreditation serves the public, the profession of experiential education, and the organization under review."
