Technical Training
Explore Prepare Advance Learn
Adventure-based outdoor activities are the tools we use to create experiential learning - learning about self, learning about others, learning subjects, learning how to accomplish important goals in our lives. Adventure-based outdoor activities, by their nature, require training about how, when, where, and why. Our technical training programs are for teachers, trainers, leaders, and professional outdoor educators who are interested in using adventure-based outdoor activities to work with others - or just because!
The Outdoor Center at Georgia College is linked to our nationally recognized graduate and undergraduate outdoor education academic programs. We do technical training for a wide range of activities and leadership competencies for our students almost every day of the week. We extend these services to others because we know how important it is for the well-being of our profession and the public.
Pursuing technical training with us means that you are being taught by our leaders or highly recognized vendors in the southeast region. It means you know we take care of our equipment, know our training sites, and have access to resources and people who will create a learning environment that will help you advance your skills, explore possibilities, and be prepared. We are competitively priced and we are educators, so we can help you learn to apply your skills to a range of contexts, groups, and locations. Our faculty and staff are practicing outdoor educators and professionals with decades of accumulated experience and qualifications.
Examples of technical training we offer are:
- Leave No Trace Instructor
- NOLS Wilderness First Aid and Wilderness First Responder
- American Canoe Association flat water, moving water, white water, coastal kayaking, and swift water rescue
