Academic Programs Distinction Workgroups (APD)

Four college-based Academic Programs Distinction (APD) workgroups will engage faculty in conversations about academic distinction within the colleges.  A fifth APD workgroup with representation from each college will focus on academic distinction that crosses college boundaries.  The purpose of these conversations is to identify academic programs, program clusters, or program themes within colleges or across colleges that are best positioned to enhance the university's national visibility, academic reputation and competitiveness. The APD's work product will consist of white papers that analyze the comparative advantages of academic program distinction proposals using factors such as
  1. centrality to mission

  2. potential for capitalizing on existing strengths

  3. potential for gaining broad faculty support

  4. potential for external recognition as exemplary

  5. potential for sustainability
