The Department of Public Safety welcomes all who are interested in joining our team. Our department comprises itself on proactive and community oriented policing, while always striving for excellence. The department has a variety of positions including sworn and non-sworn personnel. Any open positions will be posted on the official jobs website www.gcsujobs.com. Below are some basic requirements for several positions within the department:
Police Officer:
• Be at least 18 years old
• Be a United States citizen
• Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate
• Be a valid licensed Georgia driver
• Have no felony convictions
• Comply with all POST requirements as established in 35-8-8
Preference will be given to candidates who already possess basic POST peace officer certification and/or a associates or four year college degree.
Communications Officer:
• Be at least 18 years old
• Be a United States Citizen
• Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate
• Be a valid licensed Georgia driver
• Have no felony convictions
• Must comply with POST requirements for certification as a communications officer
SNAP Officer:
• At least 18 years old
• Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate
• Be enrolled as a Georgia College student taking classes
• Be in good academic and disciplinary standing with Georgia College
• Possess a valid class C Georgia license
• Have no felony convictions
