The Department of Public Safety's Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is staffed by an investigator who is responsible for conducting initial and follow-up investigations of all reported crimes that occur on the Georgia College campus and in some instances, property surrounding the Georgia College campus at the request of any student, staff or faculty member within our jurisdiction.
The Criminal Investigation Division also works closely with other local, state and federal authorities, monitors local pawn shops and analyzes crime trends to determine and implement preventive actions. This division is also responsible for detailed and thorough interviews of victims, witnesses and suspects, assisting the District Attorney's Office with the prosecution of major cases, serving as a witness for the state and preparing statements and evidence prior to trial.
