Student Night Auxiliary Patrol
Overview
The Georgia College Department of Public Safety in partnership with the Georgia College Student Government Association is pleased to offer the university community the SNAP Program, Student Night Auxiliary Patrol. The program provides safety escorts to the university community during the evenings and late night hours. Anyone who is on or within the immediate proximity of the Georgia College campus is encouraged to submit a request for a safety escort by using the SNAP WebApp through their smart phone or computer. A request can also be made by calling the Georgia College Department of Public Safety at 478-445-SNAP (7627). The service is free of charge and is available every day of the week except Saturday, Sunday, and scheduled holidays or campus closures.
Geographical Limits
Escorts will be provided to and from all Georgia College and adjacent property in Milledgeville with the exception of The Village at West Campus and Lake Laurel. Escorts will not go west of Irwin St., north of Thomas St., east of Wayne St., or south of Franklin St. Escorts can be provided to and from off campus residences that are within the above boundaries.
Hours of Operation
SNAP will resume on Monday August 19th, 2013, at 9 p.m. The hours of operation for the Fall 2013 Semester are:
Monday: 9 p.m. to Midnight
Tuesday: 9 p.m. to Midnight
Wednesday: 9 p.m. to Midnight
Thursday: 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.
Friday: 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.
SNAP WebApp
SNAP now has a WebApp that can be installed on your smart phone! Click HERE to see how to install the webapp on your phone. The WebApp is now bundled in with the GC Mobile App which is available in the App stores. With the WebApp you will not have to call to get a SNAP ride, you can check the status of your request, and send instant messages to the driver and/or dispatcher. Below is a video about how the app works.
SNAP now has general pick-up points at the following locations: Reflection pool between Sanford and Wells Halls, MSU shuttle stop, handicap parking lot beside Russell Library on Montgomery Street (#25), Old Courthouse parking lot (#26), and Irwin Street Lot (#28).
