Student Police Academy
The Georgia College Student Police Academy is a program designed to give students, faculty, and/or staff interested in law enforcement a working knowledge of the Georgia College Police Department. The police academy will provide all participants with real hands-on training that will give the participant a unique perspective of enforcement. Participants will be able to participate in firearms training at a live firing range, ride-a-longs with patrol officers, conduct mock traffic stops, investigate mock crime scenes, etc. The academy meets one day a week for about an hour to an hour and a half depending on the topic.
The goal of the police academy is to give participants a true understanding of law enforcement and foster a better relationship between the university community and the police department. Participants will gain a better understanding of the important role the university police have in their college experience.
The next Student Police Academy is set to begin September 6th 2012. If you would like to apply for the Fall Academy, please print out the Student Police Academy Application (.doc) and return it to Public Safety located in Miller Hall to be considered.
