Student Police Academy
The Georgia College & State University Student Police Academy is a program designed to give students interested in law enforcement a working knowledge of the GCSU Police Department. The student academy will provide all participants with real hands-on training that will give the student a unique perspective to law enforcement. Participants will be able to participate in firearms training at a live firing range, participate in ride-a-longs with patrol officers, conduct mock traffic stops, investigate mock crime scenes etc.
The goal of the student police academy is to give participants a true understanding of law enforcement and foster a better relationship between students and the University Police Department. Participants will gain a better understanding of the important role the University Police have in their college experience.
The student police academy is open to any GCSU students 18 years and older. Enrollment is limited to 24 participants per semester. A criminal and driver's history check will be conducted on all applicants. Applicants with criminal backgrounds will be evaluated on a case by case basis to determine eligibility to participate.
If you are interested in the student police academy please download the application (doc) and drop it off in person, e-mail, or snail mail it to the GCSU Police Department at 300 N. Wayne Street. If you have any questions, please contact Sgt. Greg Williams at 478-445-4054.
