The Assessment Toolbox is a collection of assessment instruments used to measure student development with respect to the ENGAGE Learning Outcomes. Students participating in Community-based Engaged Learning (C-bEL) experiences will complete surveys at the beginning and end of the course or activity. Student work will be evaluated by the C-bEL educator using the Critical Reflection (CR) Rubric. Additional rubrics are available below to measure the impact of C-bEL experiences on students' gains in Diverse Perspectives (DP), Integrative Learning (IL), Civic Identity (CI) and Public Good (PG). If you wish to participate in C-bEL experience, please contact us at email@example.com.
The pre- and post- survey will be administered to students by email at the beginning and end of each semester. Please send a roster that includes student bobcat emails to firstname.lastname@example.org during the first week of your C-bEL experience.
The ENGAGE rubrics have been designed to assess each of the five ENGAGE Learning Outcomes. These rubrics are flexible and can be adapted to the setting. To support use of the rubrics, C-bEL educators will attend rubric-training workshops.
Educators who choose to assess the Public Good outcome as a part of their C-bEL assessment strategy can elect to pilot an e-portfolio. Please contact the Dr. Steven Jones, Director of the Faculty Development Center, for details.
