Graduation and Commencement
Commencement is the celebratory ceremony where a student walks across the stage. The ceremony is the recognition by the University community, family, and friends of the degree achievement; it does not imply that a student’s degree will be awarded.
Graduation is the process of being awarded a degree. To be awarded a degree, candidates are required to apply for graduation by the deadline and to complete all requirements by the last day of the term in which it will be conferred.
