CONNECTING WHAT MATTERS

Residential Learning Communities
Relationships, Rigor, and Relevance

Mission: To integrate students' academic, social, and service experiences in small community settings.

Connecting What Matters is at the heart to Georgia College's Residential Learning Communities. GCSU launched the RLC program in 2000 and today, vibrant communities built around seven themes welcome first year, and in several communities, first-and-second-year students. Students and their faculty advisers connect day-to-day living, academic learning, and campus and community events and projects by weaving their common interests into the total GCSU student experience.

University research indicates that students involved in learning communities become more intellectually mature and responsible for their own learning and develop the capacity to care about the learning of their peers. Faculty members are encouraged to help students address issues from interdisciplinary perspectives. At Georgia College, we celebrate diversity and embrace the opportunity to be engaged beyond the classroom on campus and in the wider community.

Enjoy your journey through the GCSU Residential Learning Communities. For more information about Connecting What Matters through the GCSU RLC communities, contact any of the faculty advisors or the RLC Coordinator.

After being accepted by GCSU and submitting the matriculation deposit, incoming students with an interest in affiliating with a learning community are encouraged to select a community when applying for housing at the following link: http://www.gcsu.edu/housing/index.htm
