Judgment of Compliance

GC is in compliance with this standard and can demonstrate through the narrative and supporting documentation that its review process ensures the quality and accuracy of recruitment materials and presentations.

Explanation

All materials are reviewed by University Communications according to published guidelines on the UC web siteto ensure that the material meets university requirements for publications. Recruitment materials are updated regularly and reviewed by Institutional Research to ensure that all facts, figures, statistics, policies, requirements, degree programs, and deadlines are current and correct. Degree information presented in recruitment materials parallels that presented in the Georgia College Undergraduate Catalog.

Graduate student recruitment is administered departmentally.  All departmental brochures, posters, and advertisements for graduate programs are reviewed by University Communications according to the same policies cited above to ensure that they accurately reflect policies and programs provided by Georgia College.  Degree information presented in recruitment materials parallels that presented in the Georgia College Graduate Catalog.

Georgia College is able to provide the following evidence supporting compliance:

GC's marketing and recruitment initiatives clearly and accurately represent the institution's practices and policies. These practices and policies are all motivated by GC's mission, which states as follows,

"As the state's designated public liberal arts university, Georgia College & State University is committed to combining the educational experiences typical of esteemed private liberal arts colleges with the affordability of public higher education. Georgia College is a residential learning community that emphasizes undergraduate education and offers selected graduate programs. The faculty are dedicated to challenging students and fostering excellence in the classroom and beyond. Georgia College seeks to endow its graduates with a passion for achievement, a lifelong curiosity, and exuberance for learning."

Georgia College is a member of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) and the National Association of College Admissions Counselors (NACAC), and as such, it abides by the AACRAO Professional Practices and Ethical Standards  and the NACACPrinciples of Good Practice.  All admissions recruiters are trained in accordance with the Principles and Ethical Standards of AACRAO, which place strong emphasis on professionalism when representing the institution.

The recruitment materials focus on "Connecting What Matters."  This theme allows for exploration into what it means to be Georgia's Public Liberal Arts University and pursue a liberal arts education.  The institution's practices and policies are also consistently presented throughout the Georgia College web site.

As a public liberal arts university, Georgia College emphasizes the qualities typically found in private liberal arts universities.  The recruitment material communicates the personal attention and high expectations placed on students and faculty in both their academic pursuits and their extracurricular activities.  Recruitment material also calls attention to the positive benefits of a liberal arts education, including interaction with faculty and students and engagement in and beyond the classroom.

Appropriate recruitment materials are distributed at both on-campus and off-campus events drawing students, parents, and counselors.
