The mission of the the Department of
Foundations and Secondary Education is not
only to maintain our long tradition of
excellence in teacher preparation and
professional development, but also to be
architects of change for schools mandated to
assure the success of children in the
increasingly diverse, complex, and
technological society of the 21st century.
Our mission extends well beyond the
certification and career development programs
we offer our own students, to meaningful and
significant partnerships with community
schools, their districts, other academic
institutions, and professional education
agencies.
Students successfully completing one
of the programs in education may be
recommended for certification in Secondary
Education (6-12) at the T-5 or T-6
level or in Media Specialist at the S-5
level.
