President Evan Karanovich

Evan Karanovich is a senior political science major from Douglasville, GA. He is a proud Eagle Scout and Baldwin County Volunteer Firefighter. Evan began his SGA career in 2008 when he was first elected to the Senate as a freshman. Prior to being elected as President, Evan served most notably in his role as Chairman of Student Services and the Campus Improvement Committee where he focused his efforts on campus safety lighting and plans for a new Dining Hall facility. President Karanovich was first elected to campus wide office in 2010 where he served as Vice President until being elected President in spring 2011.

Early in his Georgia College career, Evan was honored to have been selected as the 2008-2009 Emerging Leader of the Year and has continued serve as an active voice for students across the campus. Evan’s diverse background in campus activities and organizations gives him insight into the many needs and opinions expressed throughout campus. As a member of the University Senate, Mandatory Student Fee Committee, Student Activity Policy Committee, and various University Boards and Committees, Evan has continued to serve as a representative and advocate for students through his deliberate and honest leadership. He is also an officer in Kappa Alpha Order, his social fraternity, a member of numerous campus organizations, as well as an inductee of several honor societies. Evan is honored to work for the betterment of Georgia College as he serves and promotes the student body as your 2011-2012 SGA President.

Goals for 2011-2012

  • To represent the student body and their concerns through effective communication with campus administrators and leaders
  • To make tangible changes on campus that students want to see
  • To educate students on large-scale changes of the university that directly affects them
  • To communicate SGA's overall meaning and purpose to the student body
