Fri., Sept. 30th - "Fresh Food Friday":  Community members are welcome to enjoy a fresh, locally-sourced lunch in "The Max", the Georgia College dining hall at the corner of Hancock and Clarke Streets.  "Fresh Food Fridays" are held every week at The Max!

Sat., Oct. 1st - "Local Harvest Food Fair

Sponsored by the Milledgeville Community Garden from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the parking lot behind First Presbyterian Church.  This is a unique opportunity for community members to purchase and learn more about the benefits of eating  locally-sourced, and Georgia-grown, fresh produce and pasture-raised meat.  Growers and farmers interested in marketing products at this event should call Debbie Harshbarger at 478-414-6433.

 

Sat., Oct. 1st - Open House and Workday at the Milledgeville Community Garden from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  Civic groups, clubs and individuals are encouraged to visit or volunteer in the garden located at 200 Southside Drive behind the New Beginning Worship Center.  Call MCGA President Joe Metzker at 478-451-9675 for more information.



Sun., Oct. 2nd - "Sustainable Sustenance Sunday":  Community members are welcome to enjoy a fresh, locally-sourced Sunday Brunch in "The Max", the Georgia College dining hall at the corner of Hancock and Clarke Streets.  Area churches, civic groups, clubs, restaurants and anyone interested in the local food movement are also encouraged to organize their own Sunday dinner, brunch or lunch utilizing as many locally or Georgia-grown ingredients as possible.  In addition to the weekly Milledgeville Marketplace on Tuesday, Sept. 27th from 4 to 7 p.m., community members can purchase fresh ingredients at the "Local Harvest Food Fair" on Oct. 1st (see above for more information).  Call 478-414-6433 for further information about planning or publicizing such an event for your group.
