Central Authentication Service (CAS)
At Georgia College, the Central Authentication Service (CAS) is a login service that allows you to access multiple password-protected web systems after logging in once on a central authentication server. This should allow the campus community to access many of the GC systems using this same sign on.
Several GC systems will begin utilizing this new login service over the next few weeks as various systems are transferred from myCATS authentication to CAS. A complete listing of GC systems using CAS is available on the GC CAS Directory. As new systems become available, they will be added to this directory.
You can reach the CAS login screen by accessing portal.gcsu.edu and clicking on the "login to CAS" button in the upper right corner. (Some system will automatically redirect you to the CAS login.)
As a prerequisite to this production release, all users (Faculty, Staff, and Students) need to create their CAS password. Creation of your CAS password can presently be accomplished by following these steps.
1. Using your web browser go to paws.gcsu.edu
2. Login to the PAWS “Enter Secure Area” with your GCID and PIN *
3. Click on “CAS Services Menu”
4. Click on “Create CAS Password”
5. Create your password based on the defined criteria
6. Exit or Logout of PAWS
If you forget your CAS password, just repeat steps 1 through 6 again. In the future we will require you to set up some security questions, but for the initial roll out these six steps will allow you to create, or recreate, your CAS password. If you experience any problems, please contact the Help Desk at 7378.
If you are a faculty member and are still using the myCats system to store your files, class assignments, or etc, I urge you to quickly make the transition to the Georgia View system for your document storage and dissemination.
