Impulse Instructions
The Division of Information Technology understands that your computer and your data are important in ensuring your success at Georgia College. We have implemented a device on both the Wireless and Residence Hall networks to help protect your computer. In order for you to log onto either the Wireless or Residence Hall network you will be required to authenticate by entering your current myCats user name and password. The following information provides instructions on how to install and use Impulse.
firstname_lastname (do not include @XXXXX.XXX)
password
Once you have authenticated to the network, you will be required to accept the applicable computer use policy and install the Policy Key. Denying acceptance of the policy or failing to install the policy key will prohibit network access. These steps have been implemented in an effort to help protect individual users by verifying that systems accessing the network have current anti-virus software and Windows operating system patches.
The instructions below are provided to assist you with logging onto the network. Included are the steps you will be required to perform in order to verify that your machine has the most current anti-virus software and Windows operating system patches.
1. ACCESSING THE INTERNET-Prior to accessing network resources including the internet, you must login. To login, open your network browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape, Safari, etc.) You will be presented with the screen below. (Please Note: the first time you access the network this screen may not immediately pop up in your browser. This is normal. You may be allowed to browse for a few minutes, during this first session, before you are prompted to authenticate. This time lapse will decrease in the near future.)
2. The Welcome screen offers you the opportunity to read the Acceptable Use Policy. You may view the policy by clicking on "Click here to read the full Policy". If you wish to proceed, click on "Yes, I will install the Policy Key and accept the terms and conditions for Internet Use".

3. After accepting the terms, the Policy Key must be installed on your computer. The following screen will be displayed. Choose RUN. This will initiate the policy key install.

4. After selecting RUN on the File Download screen, you will be prompted to install the key as noted in the screen below. Click Install to continue the installation process.

5. Once you click install, your Policy Key will be installed on your machine. Click Finish when prompted.
6. That's it! Your Policy Key has been installed. Your computer will now be checked to verify that you have the required anti-virus software and Windows operating system patches to help protect your computing environment. You will be notified through your web browser when the system senses you need to update these items.
