MAT (Miller Analogies Test)
The Miller Analogies Test (MAT) is used as a graduate school admissions test by a number of programs at GCSU. It is a high-level mental ability test requiring the solution of problems stated as analogies. The test consists of 120 analogies that are to be completed in 60 minutes. Although there are paper-based and computer-based versions of the test, the Center for Testing administers only the computer-based tests.
REGISTRATION PROCEDURES
You must call the Center for Testing at (478) 445-5016 to schedule an appointment, and then submit a completed registration form (doc) and test fee. The appointment is not confirmed until we receive your form and fee payment. If the form and fee are not received one week before your test date, the appointment may be cancelled.
Payment must be in the form of a check or money order made payable to "Georgia College & State University." The cost of the exam is $70. You may register in person in the Center for Testing Office, 101 Lanier Hall, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. To register by mail, send registration form and payment to:

Testing appointments for less than one week ahead may be permitted on a space-available basis for an additional $20 late fee. Late registrations must be received no later than the day before the test.
TEST DAY PROCEDURES
All tests will be administered in Center for Testing computer lab (Lanier Hall 115). Allow about 1-1/2 hours for the test.
You must present two forms of valid, unexpired identification. The primary form of ID must contain both a photograph and signature. Acceptable forms of primary ID include driver's license, government issued identification card or passport, or a school-issued photo ID that includes your signature. The second form of identification does not need to have a photo and may include a credit card, library card, Social Security card, or other form of credible ID.
You may not take calculators (including watch calculators), books, papers, highlighters, rulers, notes, pagers, PDAs, cellular phones, recording devices, or any other electronic devices or reference materials, food or beverages into the testing room. You may not wear or take a hat with a bill or a brim into the testing room. We recommend that you not bring these items to your test session because storage space is very limited.
NOTE: If you have taken the MAT within the past twelve months, you must bring the Retest Admission Ticket from your latest score report with you to the test session. You will not be admitted without this ticket.
No refunds will be given! You may reschedule a test session without additional charge one time if you contact the testing office at (478) 445-5016 at least one week before your original session. If it is less than one week before your test session or if you miss your session, you may reschedule your test within the next 60 days for a $20 rescheduling fee. After that time, a new registration form and payment must be submitted.
The MAT Candidate Information Booklet may be viewed on the MAT website.
