Overview
The $28 million Wellness and Recreation Center will add to the Georgia College experience for students. The groundbreaking has been set for 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14.
The center reflects the university's commitment to a holistic approach to health and wellness.
Funded by students for students' use, the center will combine fitness and recreation activities health education programs and formal wellness courses with health services and counseling services - all in one centralized location.
Garbutt/Christman LLC began construction on the 101,000-square-foot wellness center earlier this month. The planned opening is set for November 2011.
Garbutt/Christman has completed a number of renovation projects on the Georgia College campus during the past 10 years, including The Campus Theatre, the Health Sciences Building, Parks Memorial Building, Bell Hall and the Old Governor's Mansion.
