Membership Information

A. Member Eligibility

Membership to the WRC for current GC students is included in the mandatory student fees.

Memberships are available to GC employees and community patrons 18 years and older. Community memberships are offered as non-credit courses through Continuing Education. 

Segmented memberships are not available (i.e. pool only, group fitness only, track only, etc.).

WRC Facility Usage Forms (pdf) are required for membership. Forms must be read, completed, and signed by all users prior to accessing the facility. Forms can be downloaded and are also available at the Member Services desk.
A new member screening/consultation may also be required for some patrons.

WRC reserves the right to approve or deny any membership.


1. Student Membership

Currently enrolled GC students paying the mandatory student fees are eligible for membership at no additional charge. 

Students not enrolled in classes, or taking only online classes for the current semester will pay $50 per month to continue using the facility.

2. Employee Memberships

 The GC Employee membership rate is $25 per month and is available to current GC employees eligible for benefits.

All other employees and retirees may purchase a membership for $50 per month.

Membership requires Driver’s License, completion of Facility Usage Forms, possible consultation, and automatic monthly, credit card or bank draft, or payroll deduction.

3. Community Memberships

The term Community refers to GC employees not eligible for benefits, employee spouses/domestic partner, retirees, alumni, and any person(s) not affiliated with GC.  Community Memberships are offered as non-credit courses through Continuing Education.  

Continuing Education - Wellness 101

Learn the basics of a healthy lifestyle through Wellness 101. Wellness 101 focuses on adult health and behaviors that lead to optimal health, including proper nutrition, adequate exercise, risk factor reduction and other healthy lifestyle characteristics. In addition to the classroom instruction offered each month, participants will have access to the GC Wellness and Recreation Center (indoor pool, weight room, cardiovascular equipment, and aerobics classes) to practice and incorporate all of the newly learned skills into a healthy lifestyle. A signed waiver of liability is required.

  • Aqua fitness classes and water aerobics
  • More than 60 cardiovascular machines such as treadmills, stair climbers, stationary bikes and more.

Community and Employee Guest Policy

Community and Employee members are not allowed to bring guests, however we do offer a 1-day membership.

1-Day Membership

Any person 18 years or older with a valid driver’s license may purchase a one-day membership for $10. Waiver, Release of Liability and Covenant Not to Sue is required.

GC Student Guest Policy

GC student members are awarded four complimentary guest passes for their entire time at GC.

Wellness and Recreation reserves the right to approve or deny any guest pass transaction. Guests are subject to specific program eligibility policies where applicable. Wellness and Recreation reserves the right to ask any person to exit the building at any time.

Requirements and Limitations

  • Guest passes are intended for out-of-town family and/or friends, who wish to work-out while visiting a student.
  • Guest passes are valid for one-time entry only.
  • Guest passes are limited to a maximum of four visits per guest.
  • GC Students may not access the facility as a "guest".
  • GC Students cannot check another currently enrolled GC student into the facility using a guest pass.
  • GC Students must accompany his/her guest and remain in the facility with the guest.
  • GC Students must understand that the WRC is a controlled access facility, and as such, abide by all policies and procedures when bringing guests into the facility.
  • Guests must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Guests must provide a valid driver's license to register and upon each entry.
  • Guests must complete and sign Waiver, Release of Liability, and Covenant Not to Sue.
  • Guest must check-in with a student member at the member services desk upon each entry.
  • Guest must become a monthly, paying community member or purchase a one-day membership in order to access the WRC after a fourth guest visit.
  • Guest must abide by policies and procedures of the WRC.

 

Centennial Center Pool Guest Policy

Community members may bring 1 guest to the CC Pool. 

Employee members may bring up to 4 guests to the CC Pool.

  • Guest(s) must be with member.
  • Guest(s) may be any age.
  • Guest(s) must read/sign Waiver, Release of Liability and Covenant Not to Sue
  • Guest(s) must provide Driver’s License

Last day CC pool will be open is Sunday, September 2, 2018 (day before Labor Day.)

 

Official University Visitors Guest Policy

Special requests for official University visitors will be handled on a case-by-case basis and must be submitted in advance to bert.rosenberger@gcsu.edu.

 

Non-Participation Guest Policy

WRC allows current members to bring guests for various activities and programs. On occasion, some events may be open for non-participatory spectators.

A pre-participation screening is required for all students, employees, and community applicants who meet the following criteria:

1) Person 18 and over with any "Yes" marked on the PAR-Q
2)  Male 45 years of age and over
3) Female 55 years of age and over

Screenings are conducted with a WRC Graduate Assistants or Laura Childs, Associate Director of Fitness Operations. During the screening, members will complete a Medical History Questionnaire and review with qualified staff.

Screenings may be scheduled by calling (478-445-7777), emailing (wellness.recreation@gcsu.edu) or stopping by the Member Services desk.

Access to the WRC activity spaces and equipment is permitted at time of account activation.

Same-day screening appointments will not be granted. 
 
Anyone with one (1) or more items marked "YES" on the PAR-Q will be asked to obtain a written physician's clearance from your primary care physician. Additional information disclosed on the medical history may also warrant the need for a physician's clearance.

The WRC allows current members to bring guests for various activities and programs. On occasion, some events may be open for non-participatory spectators.

Upon entering the facility, all non-GC persons must check-in with the Member Services Desk and sign-in.

Upon exiting the building, all non-GC persons must stop by the Member Services Desk to sign-out.

The WRC Staff reserves the right to ask any person to exit the building at any time.

  1. Employees
          The monthly fee is $25. 
          The first month's membership fees must be paid at time of registration via credit/debit card. No cash or checks accepted.
          Prorates will not be granted based on a per-day-rate. The first month's cost will be discounted by 50% if joining between the 16th and the last day of the month.

Each member's account will be set up on automatic draft. 
Automatic draft options include:

  •  Credit/Debit Card
  •  Bank Account
  •  Payroll Deduction
     

Draft date is the 2nd of each month. If the 2nd falls on Saturday, Sunday or a holiday, fees will be drafted on the next business day.

If you elect to have your membership dues payroll deducted, note the following:

  • The first month's dues must still be paid at time of registration via credit/debit card.
  • The following month's dues will be deducted from the current month's paycheck.
  • Example: If John Doe registers his membership on May 5. He will pay $25 via credit/debit card, and his May paycheck will be deducted $25 for April's membership dues.
  • Initial account activation and re-activation must be done before the 20th of each month.

Memberships activated on or after the 20th, employee will pay current month's discounted rate of $12.50 plus the following month's $25 at time of activation/reactivation via credit/debit card. 

       2. Community/Wellness 101

The first month's membership fees must be paid at time of registration via credit/debit card. No cash or checks accepted.
Driver's License Required.

Community members will be placed on automatic monthly billing at time of registration. 

Automatic draft options include: Credit/debit card or bank account.

Fees will be automatically drafted on the 2nd of each month.
If the 2nd falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday, fees will be drafted on the next business day.

Monthly memberships fees will drafted monthly until the Member Services desk received a Cancelation Form

  • All memberships are eligible for cancelation with the exception of the standard GC Student Membership.
  • Community and Employee Credit/Debit card or Bank Drafted Membership cancelations requested in the middle of the month will NOT be eligible for full or partial refund.
  • Completed Cancelation Form is required.  Please complete and return to the WRC Member Services desk by one of the following methods:

All WRC memberships, excluding GC students, are available for purchase anytime and automatically renew each month.
