French Major

language requirements

In addition to courses required in areas A-E, students majoring in the WLC degree will complete:

9 hours of language courses need to be taken within the target language: 1001-2002 level in French

12-18 hours from this selection of classes: 1001 to 2002 level in German or Italian; ARTS 1105, ENGL 2110, ENGL 2160, GEOG 1002, HIST 1131, HIST 1132, IDST 2305, IDST 2310, PHIL 2010, POLS 2401, RHET 1110, or SOCI 1121.

Target Language requirements: Majors complete all courses below including concentration **FREN 3010, FREN 3020, FREN 3120, FREN 3220, FREN 3310

Majors will choose one concentration within the target language track.

Literature and Culture Studies Concentration: FREN 3110, FREN 3210, FREN 4220, FREN 4950 Choose 2 more courses from: ENGL 4110, ENGL4112, ENGL 4995, GEOG 4305, GEOG 3520, GEOG 4500, HIST 4155, HIST 4210, HIST 4230, any 3000 to 4000 level French course. **

Language for the Professional Concentration: FREN 3110, FREN 4110, FREN 4210, FREN 4950 Choose 2 more courses from: GEOG 4205, POLS 4603, POLS 4710, POLS 4715, PHET 2350, RHET 3320, any 3000 to 4000 level French course.  **

Multilingual Concentration: SPAN 1002, SPAN 2001, SPAN 2002 Choose 2 more courses from: SPAN 3010, SPAN 3020, any 3000 to 4000 level Spanish course.  **

French Minor

language requirements

Target Language requirements: FREN 3010 and FREN 3020 plus one additional class at the 3000 or 4000 level
