COVID-19 Reporting

Georgia College is requesting that all students, faculty, staff and visitors complete a daily self-screening for COVID-19 symptoms before returning to campus or interacting with the campus community face-to-face. For more information see our Return to Campus FAQ page.

Check your temperature and COVID-19 related symptoms before returning to campus and before coming to campus each day.

If you have any of these symptoms, DO NOT come to campus.

Employees or students who have tested positive or who have symptoms of COVID-19 should seek medical care, notify their supervisor (in the case of employees), stay home, and complete the GC COVID-19 Self-reporting Form.

People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. These symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus:

  • Fever over 100.4°F or 38°C (without having taken any fever-reducing medications)
  • Loss of smell or taste
  • Cough
  • Muscle aches
  • Sore throat
  • Shortness of breath
  • Chills
  • New or unusual headache
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or loss of appetite
  • Review latest symptoms from CDC

If the answer is “yes” to one or more of the following questions, you should stay home.

  • Are you experiencing any of the COVID-19 related symptoms noted above?
  • Are you living with or caring for an individual who is suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19?
  • Have you been in direct or close contact with anyone known or suspected to have COVID-19 in the last 14 days?
  • Have you tested positive for COVID-19 since your last screening?
  • Have you been asked to self-isolate or quarantine by a medical professional or a local public health official

If you are experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, you should not come to campus.

GC students and employees should report COVID-19 exposures, symptoms, or confirmed cases to Human Resources and Student Health Services. Employees should also contact their supervisors.

If you believe that you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or have been exposed to it, please contact your healthcare provider. If you are having chest pain, serious difficulty breathing, or another type of medical emergency, please call 911. The State of Georgia has a COVID-19 hotline: (844) 442-2681. You may call this number for additional screening and testing information.

Using the GDPH guidelines for discontinuing home isolation, the affected employees and students may return to campus when they have met all three of the following criteria and provides a physician’s note that they are able to return to work:

  • No fever for at least 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medicines), AND
  • Improved symptoms, AND
  • Been at least 10 days since symptoms first appeared.
