Villages at West Campus

What is the Sorority Leadership Community (SLC)?

The SLC is a women’s leadership development program that houses second year sorority women at the village apartments on west campus. The women will live on a hallway with their sorority sisters, as well as two peer mentor leaders, as they participate in a leadership program focused around women's empowerment.

What are the benefits of the SLC?

While participating in the SLC, sorority women will be focusing on leadership values, identifying tools to develop positive relationships, as well as improve personal effectiveness, in order to lead others authentically.

What is the role of a Peer Mentor?

Each sorority will have two peer mentors who will support and guide the sorority members throughout the program. These women will be there to provide resources, as well as, collaborate together to plan SLC community wide programs.

Does everyone sign the contract mentioned in Recruitment registration?

Every potential new member, rushing as a first year student, who goes through Formal Recruitment and joins a Panhellenic sorority will complete a contract through university housing after bid day. Potential new members going through Panhellenic recruitment Fall 2021, will be living at the village apartments beginning Fall 2022.

Do upperclassmen live there?

If you are going through recruitment as a sophomore, junior, or senior, you will have the chance to complete a form after bid day in order to appeal to live off campus.

What is the commitment of this leadership program?

While participating in this women’s leadership program, each participants will be given a calendar of events happening throughout the year that they will be expected to attend. Some of these events include, life skills workshops and exploring personal leadership values. Last years, community events included: Shaved Ice, Taco Night in the courtyard, Study Nights with Snacks, and Chick-fil-a breakfast/dinner

How are roommates decided?

Chapter leaders will work with the women in their sorority to determine roommates based on a preference list that they will complete. 

How much does it cost?

The rates for the 2018-2019 academic year are $8,348 for 11 months, $4,174 billed each semester (fall/spring). *This will increase slightly for the following year.

What is in each apartment?

The apartments are fully furnished, each private bedroom contains a bed, dresser, bookshelf, desk, chair and closet. Shared living room with couch, chair, coffee table, side table, TV stand and a washer and dryer in the apartment. Shared kitchen with full size appliances including refrigerator, microwave, oven, stove, dishwasher and garbage disposal.

What is transportation like?

There are spaces for students to park at The Village. There is a Georgia College shuttle that runs from west campus to main campus.
