Transfer Students

How to get here from there.

Students transfer to Georgia College for lots of reasons, and it’s our job to make the transition as easy and enjoyable as possible. From the moment you realize that Georgia College is the place for you to the moment we hand you your diploma, we’re here to answer your questions and welcome you into the Georgia College family.

Transfer Admissions Requirements

The Georgia College Office of Admissions reviews applications using a holistic review process. What does that mean? It means we look at more than just your academic record. We also take into consideration your unique competencies and extracurricular activities and life experiences. We’re looking for well-rounded students who will bring fresh new perspectives and energy to our school. That’s why simply meeting the minimum admission requirement does not guarantee acceptance. We’re looking for something more. But for starters, all transfer applicants are minimally required to:

  • Have earned 30 or more transferable semester credit hours (45 transferable quarter hours) from a regionally accredited college/university
  • Have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA or higher in college level courses. (Excluding learning support, developmental and remedial courses)
  • Meet the GPA requirement established by academic programs that have a separate admissions process
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.75 or higher to be considered for the Generic Nursing Program (BSN)
  • Be in good academic standing and eligible to re-enroll with their last institution
  • Submit original international transcripts for courses taken in other countries
  • Complete all college preparatory curricula and learning support coursework required by any University System of Georgia (USG) institution

Admissions Application Requirements

  • Application with application fee ($35 Online) ($40 Paper) Click here to complete online application
  • Transcripts from all previously attended colleges, universities or technical institutions.(Emailed, faxed or hand-delivered open copies of transcripts, AP, CLEP & IB scores are considered unofficial)

Since first-year students considering transfer will likely not have the required 30 semester hours of transferable college credits, they must meet the admission requirement for a first-year student as well as all other appropriate transfer admissions requirements and submit the following:

  • Application with application fee ($35 Online) ($40 Paper) Click here to complete online application
  • Final high school transcript SAT or ACT scores
  • Personal essay
  • Transcript from any/all colleges or universities attended (including technical institutions)

Non-Traditional First-Year Students

Non-traditional first-year students are individuals who have less than 30 transferable semester/quarter hours, have been out of high school at least five years and whose high school class graduated at least five years ago. To apply, you will need to submit the following:

  • Accredited high school diploma or GED Compass test scores
  • An ACT/SAT score no older than 7 years
  • Transcripts from any college/university/technical institution previously attended

Program Deadlines

Some programs have separate and competitive admission application procedures beyond the regular admissions requirements for Georgia College. To determine whether your program of study has a different deadline or additional admission requirements, please visit the appropriate website.

Your application will be reviewed once your file becomes "complete", which means once we have received all of your required documentation.
