There is a great sense of community within the Montessori classroom, where children of differing ages work together in an atmosphere of cooperation rather than competitiveness. There is respect for the environment and for the individuals within it, which comes through experience of freedom within the community.

Georgia College and the Baldwin County Board of Education have partnered to bring the Montessori education experience to the Milledgeville community. The Montessori Academy is housed in the Early Learning Center.
Montessori education is a tested and proven approach to learning, touting more than 100 years of success. Children are provided freedom to explore subjects in blended classrooms where older students solidify their own knowledge by helping the younger students learn. Instead of lecturing from the blackboard, teachers are able to work with small groups of students and independent learners. This creates an environment where each student can learn at his or her pace.
