Making Excellence Inclusive Day
Making Excellence Inclusive Day is a day-long event held at the beginning of the fall semester that gives faculty and staff the opportunity to receive information that helps them to understand current diversity issues impacting our campus. The program features a plenary session with a guest speaker followed by breakout sessions on topics designed to help improve teaching strategies, foster better interpersonal relationships, and sustain a welcoming climate for diversity at Georgia College.
Diversity 360 Series
Diversity 360 is a campus-wide diversity education program for students, faculty, and staff. The goal of this educational series to help ensure that every GC community member embrace and reflects the university’s values of reason, respect, and responsibility towards their fellow Bobcats in the classroom, residence halls, workplace, and all other environments on campus.
MLK commemoration week
Every January, the GA College Cultural Center and the Office of Inclusive Excellence celebrates the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The theme for 2022 aligned with the King Center's theme: “King Week: Where Do We Go from Here?” The commemoration began with a midday ceremony Friday, Jan. 14 on front campus. After the ceremony, the GC community was invited to the Cultural Center to watch the livestream of the 2022 Virtual Beloved Community Global Summit hosted by the King Center of Atlanta.
MLK Jr. events continued with Service Saturday on Jan. 15. The GC community signed up to put the teachings of Dr. King into action through community service. The week concluded Monday, Jan. 17 and it was designated as "It Starts with Me Day!" The GC community extended to engage in service. They also shared reflections and ways they are implementing Dr. King's philosophies in their own lives on social media using the hashtag #ITSTARTSWITHME.
We hope you will join us next year in our efforts to honor Dr. King, his legacy, and the future of inclusive excellence at Georgia College.
