MASTERS DEGREE (M.ED.) PROGRAMS IN EARLY CHILDHOOD AND MIDDLE GRADES EDUCATIONActing Chairperson: Nancy B. Mizelle PROGRAM DESCRIPTION The graduate program offered in Early Childhood or Middle Grades Education at Georgia College & State University at the T5 certification level is intended for persons already possessing an undergraduate degree in education. The advanced level of certification is associated with the completion of the Master of Education degree program in Early Childhood Education or Middle Grades. These programs extend and expand the study of the development of children and adolescents at an advanced level as outlined in the conceptual framework. Within the context of the master's degree program, candidates are exposed to a wide variety of information related to education and work with children and adolescents with particular emphasis on serving as mentors for beginning teachers, advocating for young adolescents and children in the larger professional community, and conducting action research in classrooms. DEGREES OFFERED The graduate programs in Early Childhood or Middle Grades Education lead to a Master of Education Degree or Education Specialist Degree. |
