Dr. Carolyn Denard is Associate Provost for Student Success and Professor of English at Georgia College and State University. She received a B.A. in English from Jackson State University, a M.A.T. in English from Indiana University, and a PhD in American Studies from Emory University. Before coming to Georgia College, she served as Associate Dean at Brown University and Dean of the College at Connecticut College. As Associate Provost for Student Success at Georgia College, she has oversight of all seven departments of the Center for Student Success: the Academic Advising Center, the Learning Center, the Writing Center, the Testing Center, the Bridge Scholars Program, the Honors Program, and Leadership Programs. Her work in student success focuses on student academic performance and on retention and progression initiatives, including developing rituals that helps students develop affective ties to the institution.
She attended the University of West Georgia and graduated with a B.S. in Biology in 2003.
