One study found that girls’ self-esteem plummets at age 12 and doesn’t improve until 20. When coupled with the pressure to do well in school and have it all together, college-age women often struggle with self-esteem and body image, too. This programming committee is responsible for passive and active programming surrounding body positivity and self-esteem.
Violence Prevention & Awareness
Project BRAVE is Georgia College’s prevention, education, and advocacy initiative surrounding power-based interpersonal violence (sexual assault, intimate partner violence, stalking, and other sexual misconduct). The student programming arm around
PBIV education and prevention is the registered student organization BRAVEheart.
Men Against Violence
"We need more men with the guts, with the courage, with the strength, with the moral integrity to break our complicit silence and challenge each other and stand with women and not against them.” - Jackson Katz
Women’s History Month
The month of March is Women’s History Month. This programming group will be responsible for planning out a calendar of events for throughout the month to celebrate and bring awareness to the Georgia College community around the accomplishments of women as well as the challenges still faced every day.
The purpose of this programming group will be to help in bringing programs/events around healthy sexuality and sexual health to the GC community that are sex-positive, feminist, and intersectional.
