Teaching Excellence Awards

The Teaching Excellence awards recognize faculty & departments/programs for their contributions to Georgia College. Colleges select nominees for the awards and forward to the university faculty awards committee who select the recipient for each award category. Award recipients remain a “secret” until the Celebration of Faculty and Staff Excellence ceremony, which will be held Friday, April 20, 2018.

  • The winner will be be the university's representative for the USG Felton Jenkins, Jr. Hall of Fame Faculty Award
  • ​The winner of the Excellence in Teaching Award will be the December commencement speaker that year
  • Recipients will receive $1000 in their base salary beginning the following FY for meritorious service
  • ​Recipients will receive $1000 in their base salary beginning the following fiscal for meritorious service
  • ​Recipients will receive $1000 in their base salary beginning the following fiscal year for meritorious service
  • Recipient will receive $500 from the Georgia College Foundation
  • School of Nursing makes this award for 2017-2018 (The award rotates between the College of Business (odd years) and the School of Nursing (even years)
  • Recipient receives $2,620 from the Georgia College Foundation.

2017- 2018 Due Dates 

  • Nominations to college were due by: November 17, 2017
  • College selectees notified by college by: December 3, 2017
  • College nominees’ final applications received by Center for Teaching and Learning by: March 2, 2018
  • The Center for Teaching and Learning submits the finalist for each award to the Provost’s office by: April 6, 2018.
  • Awards announced during the Celebration of Excellence, April 20, 2018

Past award recipients are not eligible to receive an award in the same category until a minimum of five years has elapsed. However, in subsequent years past award recipients will be considered in other award categories.
