The Learning Center Has Moved Its Services Online!!!

Many of the LC services like Supplemental Instruction and drop-in tutoring have moved online and are ready to help you finish out the spring semester strong.  Information about accessing these services is being emailed and posted on our social media accounts, so be sure to check both frequently.

Learning Center Tutoring

The Learning Center (LC) offers free drop-in tutoring and academic assistance to GC students. The LC is a friendly and stress free environment to study and complete work.

Peer Assisted Study Sessions

Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) take place before major tests in courses that do not have SI support.  These sessions are led by students who tutor in the Learning Center.

Undergraduate Learning Assistants

Undergraduate Learning Assistants (ULAs) are tutors who work in our Math Lab Emporium to support students enrolled in College Algebra and Math Modeling.

What certifications and qualifications does the Learning Center's services have?

The Learning Center's Tutors, PASS Tutors, and ULAs are trained according to the College Reading and Learning Association's (CRLA) International Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC) standards.  The Learning Center has earned the highest certification credentials offered, a Level 3 Master Certified tutoring center. Additionally, each tutor has a proven history of academic success in the discipline in which they tutor.

The Supplemental Instruction Program and SI Leaders are certified through the International Center for Supplemental Instruction through the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC).  Georgia College is proud to be the first and only UMKC Certified SI Program in the state of Georgia.

How do I apply to become an employee of the Learning Center?

Currently enrolled Georgia College Students can apply to become a Tutor, SI Leader, PASS tutor, or ULA by completing the Application for Employment and bringing the completed application and availability form to the Learning Center.  We will follow up with you to schedule an interview.
