Dear Campus Community
Earlier this week I received my Bobcat ID card, and today marks my first day as the 12th president of Georgia College. I am deeply honored to be entrusted with the leadership of this vibrant and supportive campus community. I have been extremely impressed with the ‘path to preeminence’ you have been pursuing and the momentum that Georgia College currently enjoys. I am committed to joining you in the innovative efforts that will further advance this trajectory.
As Georgia’s designated public liberal arts university, we are fortunate to have a unique mission that is highly regarded for the transformative education we provide and the lifelong essential skills that we impart to our students. I am ready to get to work on the steps we can take as a student-centered university, guided by our values, to prepare a next generation of citizen leaders to think independently and lead creatively.
My calendar over the next few days and weeks will be eventful to say the least! Much of my initial work will take place in extended meetings on and off campus. However, please know that I look forward to meeting with each of you and getting to know the work that you do here on campus. I am particularly excited about engaging with our students and renewing our connections with the diverse communities we serve.
I will be reaching out very soon to academic and administrative departments as I begin a listening tour across campus to learn what you love about our university and also what you see as our opportunities. We will also have a chance to meet in-person during Fall Festival on Wednesday, October 27, on Front Campus. I know that there will be many more occasions to work and celebrate our achievements along the way.
I look forward to meeting you soon!
