ENGLISH FOR SPEAKERS OF OTHER LANGUAGES (ESOL) ENDORSEMENT
The ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) Endorsement Program is designed for any certified P-12 teacher who is interested in learning how to meet the needs more effectively of the students in his/her classroom. Applicants must pass the John H. Lounsbury Graduate Writing Assessment to be admitted to the ESOL Endorsement Program. The program addresses the competencies required by the Professional Standards Commission's Georgia ESOL Endorsement.
This program consists of three courses:
Linguistics, Language, and Language Acquisition |
(3 semester hours) |

Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment English Language Learners |
(3 semester hours) |
|
Socio-Cultural Influences on English Language Learners |
(3 semester hours) |
Total 9 semester hours
ESOL Endorsement students do not have to take a GACE content test for adding the endorsement to their certificates. However, they must be recommended by the GC Certification Officer to the Professional Standards Commission.
