GC in DC FAQs

What internships are available?

The GC in DC Legislative Internship Program is committed to helping students obtain internships on Capitol Hill.

Are internships paid?

Payment is determined independently and varies depending on the offices associated with each internship.  Many congressmen and senators offer both paid and unpaid internships, which are allocated at staffers' discretion and may require the submission of additional documents, such as a statement of financial need.

How much does it cost to participate in the GC in DC Legislative Internship Program?

While there is no direct cost associated with the GC in DC Legislative Internship Program, you should consider the costs of living and working in Washington, D.C.

Your expenses in D.C. can vary depending on the length of your internship (typically 4-6 weeks), the cost of your accommodations, and your individual living expenses (including groceries and travel). Financial assistance may be available through the program, but it is not guaranteed and may not cover all expenses.

Additionally, if you receive academic credit for your internship, you will be required to pay tuition fees and may have access to financial aid.
