The LC supports students with 4 unique programs- SI, drop-in tutoring, Math Emporium ULAs, and PASS

The LC has all student staff, trained and certified.

 

Location: The Learning Center is located on the 2nd floor of the Library, across from the 3d Printing desk.  The Math Emporium is located on the bottom floor of the Library, down the hall from the Books and Brew.  

Mission:  The mission of the GC Learning Center is to provide academic support in mathematics, physics, economics, kinesiology, and science courses throughout the core curriculum.

Mondays -Thursdays 9am - 6pm  pm In-person in the LC 

Fridays 9am- 2pm in the LC

After Hours Tutoring

Mondays-Thursdays 6-9 pm- Online, in the LC, and West Campus classroom

Biography

Jeanne has worked in higher education and academic support for the past ten years. Earlier work provided a wide variety of educational and managerial settings including non-profit work, homeschooling, running a private school, and directing a camp. One common denominator to her experiences has been to challenge and help young adults succeed and continuously grow their proficiencies and skill set. Ms. Haslam has been active with the John Gardner Institute as the Campus Liaison and the USG STEM initiatives. She is currently serving as a Sector Lead for State Universities and as Co-PI for GC’s current STEM IV grant.

Biography

Rebecca Cofer has worked in higher education learning centers since her time at The Writing Center at Virginia Tech in 2004. Since then, she has worked as the tutor coordinator for Texas Tech's TECHniques Center and at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College's Academic Achievement Center, and now serves as the Programs Manager at the Learning Center. Cofer's experience also includes work as an academic advisor for majors like undecided and pre-nursing. Regardless of her role, Rebecca's passion lies in helping students succeed in higher ed and beyond, however they view success. She also serves in multiple leadership roles for the College Reading & Learning Association and the Georgia Tutoring Association.

Biography

Hannah is pursuing her graduate degree in accounting and currently serves as one of 2 GAs for the Learning Center.  She served on the executive committee of Zeta Tau Alpha as Treasurer during her time as an undergraduate at Georgia College. Hannah also worked for a company from 2018-2020  as an accounting intern where she was responsible for data tracking and other various accounting tasks. Prior to her work as a GA with us, Hannah used the LC for SI sessions for some of her business and entry level classes.

Biography

Stuart currently serves as one of the two GAs in the Learning Center while pursuing his graduate degree in accounting. While an undergrad at Georgia College, he served on the executive committee of Delta Sigma Phi as Treasurer. He also had an internship during his undergrad with Grant Thornton. Before working as a GA for the Learning Center, Stuart used the LC for tutoring help in his entry level classes.
