Biography

Brett joined Georgia College in April 2021.  As General Counsel, Brett provides general legal counsel to the President, the University’s governing groups, and its senior academic and administrative officers; advises on the legal implications of University policy and decision-making; and manages the professionals who serve in the Office of Legal Affairs. Prior to joining Georgia College, Brett served in a similar capacity as an associate legal adviser within the University System of Georgia at Augusta University, home to the Medical College of Georgia, the state’s public academic medical center. Before entering higher education, Brett was a litigation attorney with the Atlanta law firm of Parker, Hudson, Rainer & Dobbs. Brett clerked for the Honorable J. Randal Hall on the United States District Court for the Southern District of Georgia. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Georgia with a degree in economics and earned his law degree from the Georgia State University College of Law where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and served as an editor of the Georgia State University Law Review.

Mary Sanders

Biography

Mary joined Georgia College as a Temporary Legal Affairs Manager in September 2021 and became the official Legal Affairs Manager in December.  As the manager, Mary reviews and processes all contracts that are routed through the Legal Affairs office:  receives open records requests, obtains the records from the appropriate department and disseminates it back to the requestor: provides guidance and facilitates the immigration status for international employees: communicates with various outside entities in regard to intellectual properties and copyrights: manages office functions and assistants General Counsel.  Mary relocated from West Palm Beach, Florida where she worked 11 years at Palm Beach State College as an Administrative Sergeant to the Director of Security & Risk Management.
