STUDENT FEE INFORMATION
Mandatory student fees are assessed to all students at Georgia College & State University. At GC, the mandatory student fees include:
Student Technology Fee - The Student Technology Fee supports technology resources that enhance the student learning experience. Funding helps provide classroom technology, computer labs, campus wireless infrastructure, software licensing, virtual computing resources, and technical support services used by students throughout their academic careers.
Bobcat Card Fee - The Bobcat Card Fee supports Georgia College's campus ID system, which provides students with secure access to university facilities and services. The fee funds equipment, technology upgrades, operations, and staffing that support student identification, building access, meal plans, library services, campus purchases, and digital card functionality.
Parking & Transportation Fee - The Parking & Transportation Fee supports campus shuttle services, parking operations, and transportation infrastructure. Funding helps maintain parking lots, operate campus transit services, improve accessibility, and invest in transportation technology and vehicle replacement to provide safe and convenient access across campus.
Health Fee - The Health Fee supports Student Health Services and the Wellness & Recreation Center. Through this fee, students have access to healthcare services, wellness programs, preventative care, recreation opportunities, fitness programs, and other resources that promote student well-being and success.
Wellness & Recreation Center Fee - The Wellness & Recreation Center (WRC) Fee supports the construction, maintenance, and long-term operation of the Wellness & Recreation Center. The fee helps fund facility debt service, building maintenance, equipment replacement, major repairs, and continued investment in one of the university's most utilized student facilities.
Student Activity Fee - The Student Activity Fee enhances student life by supporting organizations, campus traditions, leadership development, recreation programs, student media, community engagement, and other co-curricular experiences. The fee helps create opportunities for involvement, connection, and personal growth beyond the classroom.
The Sustainability Fee - The Sustainability Fee, a component of the Student Activity Fee, supports student-led initiatives that advance environmental, social, and economic sustainability on campus and in the community. Funding provides opportunities for sustainability projects, recycling and composting programs, campus gardens, internships, educational programs, and other initiatives that encourage responsible stewardship and innovation.
Athletic Fee - The Athletic Fee supports Georgia College's NCAA Division II athletics programs and student-athlete experience. Funding helps provide scholarships, coaching, athletic training, team travel, facilities, equipment, and competitive opportunities while contributing to school spirit and campus engagement.
Mandatory Fee Committee
The fees are reviewed each year and voted on by the Advisory Mandatory Student Fee Committee, which must be composed of at least 50% students and include representation of graduate students, part-time students, residential students, and commuter students. Currently, the Advisory Mandatory Student Fee Committee comprises nine students, two faculty, and two staff.
The Advisory Mandatory Student Fee Committee convenes in the fall to hear presentations on the state of each fee and any proposed changes to the fees. The committee votes to approve the fee structure each year.
The introduction of new fees, the repurposing of fees, or the increase of any fee by 20% or more must be voted on by a student body referendum.
Any student interested in serving on the Advisory Mandatory Student Fee Committee is invited to contact the Budget Office at budgetoffice@gcsu.edu. Georgia College & State University strives for broad representation on the committee. Students are asked to commit to serving for two years.
