Class Auditing Requirements

Auditing a course allows you to take a class without the benefit of a grade or credit for the course. Audit courses are for the purpose of self-enrichment and academic exploration. Courses are offered ONLY on a space-available basis with the approvals of both the instructor of the course and the Registrar's Office. An auditor is considered a passive learner and may not recite in class or take examinations, but is expected to attend classes with reasonable regularity.

If you would like to audit a course, please view the following admissions requirements:

1. Undergraduate Application

The Undergraduate application is used to apply as an auditing student. Please submit ONLY ONE application and use ONLY that application all the way through to submission. Submitting more than one application will most certainly delay your admission decision. Auditing students must update every semester.

3. Contact Course Professor and Registrar's Office
  • You must first contact the professor of the specific course to receive approval to audit the course. Please have the professor complete and sign the Add Course Card found here. Please visit our public directory to locate professor contact information: https://directory.gcsu.edu/
  • Bring the completed Add Course Card to the Georgia College Registrar's Office at 107 Parks Hall, Milledgeville, GA 31061 to add the course.

Students admitted for auditing purposes must update their application every semester by submitting the Undergraduate Update Form and become regularly admitted to enroll in future terms. Students must also receive written approval from the course professor and Registrar’s Office for each semester they wish to attend.

If you have any questions about these steps, please contact the Registrar's Office at 478-445-6286 or registrar@gcsu.edu.
