Welcome to the College of Health Sciences!

Starting a new year is always an exciting time for me. It’s a time to put the previous year behind and embark on a fresh start. Putting 2020 behind has been pretty easy for many reasons. It’s starting fresh that can be a challenge. For some reading this welcome, you have already determined your career path and are ready to hit the education road running. Others of you know that you are interested in a health-related field but haven’t quite landed on the program that triggers your passion. Still others are searching for what it is to do with your life. Regardless of the category, you have come to the right place. Our programs in the College of Health Sciences are top-notch! Our faculty are educationally and experientially qualified to provide you with an excellent learning environment and their mentorship will help you navigate the transition from student to health care professional. They are dedicated to seeing you succeed. Our students engage in research, clinical, internships, and projects among other activities/experiences that will maximize your ability to be successful in your career. We offer a variety of study abroad programs for you to learn about the culture and health care of countries outside of the United States. The College of Health Sciences also offers opportunities for community engagement through the efforts of the Center for Health and Social Issues. Whether you’re looking into athletic training, exercise science, human performance, health promotion, physical education, nursing or public health, selecting Georgia College as your educational home will be one of the best decisions that you will make.

Biography

Sheri Noviello received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Columbus College (Columbus State University) in 1986, a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Troy University in 1991, and a PhD in Nursing degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 2007. She specialized in Emergency Nursing working as a staff/charge nurse in a Level II Trauma Center and an Emergency Department in a Cardiac Center. From 1991 to March 2014, she served Columbus State University as a faculty member, Assistant Director, and Director of the School of Nursing. In Spring 2014, she joined Valdosta State University (VSU) as the Associate Dean and became the permanent Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences in January 2016. In July 2019, she joined Georgia College and State University as the Dean of the College of Health Sciences. Her interests are in emotional intelligence, coaching, and leadership.

Biography

Dr. Czech received a BA in Psychology from Denison University, a MS in Behavioral Kinesiology from Georgia Southern University, and a PhD in Performance Psychology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. For the past 18 years, he was a professor and Honors Research Program Director at Georgia Southern University. He has published over 85 peer reviewed manuscripts, four books, seven book chapters and has given over 100 peer reviewed presentations around the world. He has also conducted numerous performance psychology clinics in many different countries around the world. His research interests include examining positive psychology interventions, investigating multigenerational health and exercise motivation and applying emotional intelligence in the workplace.
