Taking the Next Step

Graduation marks the completion of all degree requirements and the official posting of the degree on a student's records.  To receive a degree, candidates are required to apply for graduation by the deadline and to complete all requirements by the last day of the term in which the degree will be conferred.

Commencement is a ceremony in which a student is recognized by the university community, family, and friends. It is an important rite of passage, recognizing the tremendous accomplishment of completing a college degree.  We encourage all graduation candidates to participate in their respective ceremony. GCSU holds commencement ceremonies two times per year, in December (Winter) and in May (Spring).  Both  May and August graduation candidates participate in the May ceremony.
