Georgia College offers our students state-of-the-art performance facilities at several locations across campus. The various performances, courses and learning opportunities take place throughout the year at these locations.
Russell Auditorium is the main performance space for music and theatre productions. This summer it underwent extensive renovations to the lighting and rigging systems to bring this gorgeous historic building state of the art equipment. The auditorium seats up to 980 and has a 1,000 square foot stage, an orchestra pit, computerized lighting system, motorized fly system, and two dressing rooms.
Campus Black Box Theatre
The Campus Theatre in historic downtown Milledgeville recently underwent renovations to provide retail space for the Box Office Books and new academic and performance spaces for the theatre department, including a black box theatre with flexible seating, rehearsal and classroom space, a design lab and offices. The new facilities allow students to perform in an arena setting while working with state of the art technology in light and sound.
Max Noah Recital Hall
Max Noah Recital Hall is located on the third floor of Porter Hall. Many classes are held here, as well as small theatre productions and recitals. Max Noah is an intimate venue that seats nearly 200.
The Scene Shop is located on West Campus near the Wellness Center. Classes that meet here include Stagecraft, Advanced Stagecraft, and Scenic Painting. This 3000 sq/ft facility includes carpentry tools, saws, and a CNC router.
Porter Fine Arts Building, built in 1939, is the home of the music department and Max Noah Recital Hall. The Department of Theatre's Costume Shop is located in Room 113 on the first floor of Porter, just at the bottom of the stairs.
