Mock Trial

Georgia College & State University’s Mock Trial Team competes annually in the American Mock Trial Association’s regional tournament, which includes approximately twenty-two schools from across the United States, and from which six school are selected to participate in the American Mock Trial Association’s national tournament. Serving as attorneys and witnesses, students conduct four full-length trials in which they perform opening statements, direct and cross-examinations, and closing arguments. In so doing, the students gain invaluable real-world experience in persuasive advocacy, public speaking, and principled legal analysis. In the past, Georgia College’s students have performed admirably, defeating schools such as Boston College, Arizona State, and the University of Mississippi. Additionally, several students have won Outstanding Attorney and Outstanding Witness Awards, bringing prestige and recognition to the Mock Trial Team and to the university. Ultimately, the Mock Trial Team presents students with an opportunity to think, write, and practice like lawyers, and to represent the university on a regional and national level.
